Source: Fujifilm Insider
Fujifilm is currently developing the X RAW Studio software, which can be used to develop RAW files on the PC or Mac in the camera. To do this, the camera is connected via USB to the computer to the RAW conversion then takes care of the image processor in the camera and not the processor of the computer. According to Fujifilm, the process offers a number of advantages.
Probably hardly a RAW converter on the PC or Mac succeeds to develop the raw data so that they correspond exactly to the JPEG recordings directly from the camera. Because in the camera this task assumes a highly specialized image processor. Not only does the job accomplish much faster than a software à la Lightroom, it also delivers exactly the results of the manufacturer.
So why not control the image processor of a camera from the PC and optionally also still supply the raw data from the hard disk? This question has been asked by the software engineers at Fujifilm. Your answer: the software X RAW Studio. It runs under Windows or MacOS, uses input and output (large monitor!) Of the computer, but delegates the actual RAW conversion to the X processor Pro (our title) of an X-Pro2, X-T2, GFX 50S or X100F, which is connected via USB to the computer.
According to Fujifilm, the process offers these advantages:
The developed RAW files correspond exactly to the JPEG files, which were generated directly from the camera by the camera.
The image processor is so fast that it can display a preview of the expected result in real-time
X RAW Studio is scheduled to be released in late November 2017 for Mac, the Windows version is scheduled for late January 2018. In addition, the compatible cameras require firmware updates, which should also be released this year.…
