It’s time to catch up on some of the latest updates in the Photo Software world. Today, Adobe updated lots of its applications including Photoshop and Lightroom, DXO announced that its PhotoLab 4 software won and award, and details of the most recent Luminar update.
Photoshop and Lightroom
Adobe just released an update for its photography applications including Photoshop and Lightroom. The Lightroom and Camera RAW updates were mainly to add camera support, including the new (but currently impossible to get hold of) Nikon Zfc camera.
Photoshop had some more substantial updates, with improvements to the Sky Replacement engine to add more high quality skies. There are also new warp options in the Transform tool, and improvements to the in-app discover panel.
They have also started the process of removing the 3d functionality from Photoshop with this release, and future versions will no longer have the 3d toolset. Full details of the changes in this version of Photoshop can be found on the Adobe website.
I’nm pretty late with this, but a little while ago, Skylum updated Luminar AI to version 1.4 and this includes the new Portrait Bokeh AI tool. This new function acts kind of like the “portrait” option on an iPhone and blurs the background of a photo with a person in the image, but Luminar uses AI to calculate a depth map, and to mask out the people in the photo.
