07 Sep New Lens Roadmaps Announced For Fujifilm XF and GF Lens Systems

It’s raining Fujifilm announcements, but thankfully if you are tired of them this is the last one. As the company does from time to time, they have unveiled updated lens roadmaps for their XF and GF lens systems, giving us some insight into what the company’s plans are for their systems going forward – and these updates have some interesting additions.

According to the Fujifilm press release, X-Series photographers can expect some new additions to the series in the form of a new XF 8-16mm F2.8R LM WR and (finally!!!) the addition of a long telephoto lens (for sports or wildlife) in the form of an XF 200mm F2 R LM OIS WR. These are both great announcements that fill voids in the current Fujifilm lens lineup for the X-Series.

Especially that 200mm F2 R LM OIS WR, that will effectively be a 300mm F2 lens equivalent, a lens long desired and requested by sports and wildlife enthusiasts. But given the lens’s probable size, and weight – we can also surmise this could potentially be a killer portrait lens for the Fujifilm photographer who has the room to make it work.

On the GF lens front, Fujifilm has announced two new GF system additions in the form of the GF 250mm F4 R LM OIS and GF 1.4x TC WR. The GF 250mm lens will effectively be equivalent to what most of you would think of at 200mm (on 35mm systems) so this could be a popular lens for the GFX50s and those wanting to use it for sports, wildlife, or even portraits. The new teleconverter, when paired with the 250mm lens will make the lens effectively a 277mm equivalent for 35mm systems. Expanding the GF lens series even more.…
