23 Dec Initial Impressions on the Rokinon 35mm F/1.2 for Fujifilm

I have been thinking about picking up the Rokinon 35mm F/1.2 for some time now and so when the opportunity came up to give the lens a try for a review I jumped on it. It is true, I love my Fujifilm XF 35mm F/2 R WR, no doubt, but sometimes it is nice to be able to get the added depth of field and bokeh that an F/1.2 lens brings. Right now, the only Fujifilm XF lens with that fast of an aperture is the XF 56mm F/1.2, and while that is a great lens for sure, it is simply too long for what I do on a regular basis. 35mm is perfect, and F/1.2 is a dream, so I was happy to be able to get my hands on this lens.

The Rokinon 35mm F/1.2
First off, the build quality of this lens feels great. It is solid, weighty (but not too heavy) and it just feels like a quality lens. The black facade with the red ring fits well enough with my X-Pro2 but in all honesty it could do better in that regard. The manual focus was honestly a little tight for me right out of the gate, but after using it for a few minutes it loosened up and offered an acceptable resistance.
