Fujifilm has added a new 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom to its lens family that’s designed to be used with the Fujifilm X-series camera range.

Offering wide-angle views as well as close-up capabilities up to 5cm away, the new lens is well suited for a variety of shooting situations, covering the frequently used focal lengths from 23mm to 69mm in the 35mm equivalent.

The optical design incorporates 10 lenses in 9 groups, including three aspherical lenses and two ED lenses. The image stabilisation function supports handheld photography in low light environments while a stepping motor is used to control changes in focus position which produces quick and quiet autofocus operation.

An electronic zoom allows the lens to be small and collapsible so it won’t take up too much room in your kit bag and it definitely won’t weigh you down as it only weighs 135g.

When the camera is switched on, the lens automatically extends ready for shooting and two different zoom speeds can be selected by rotating the zoom ring. Plus, the electric zoom includes 3.0-stop optical image stabilisation technology compatible with CIPA guidelines, which assists photographers shooting in low light conditions.

The FUJINON LENS XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 OIS PZ lens will be available from March 2018, in Silver and Black, priced at £259.

Also announced today is the Fujifilm Announce X-A5 Mirrorless Camera with a new 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor.
